OAKES, Francis. Came free per "Nautilus", 1798

Granted land at Dundas on arrival from Tahiti; appointed Chief Constable for the District of Parramatta September 1805 but was dismissed during the rebel administration; in May 1810 he sailed with Bligh to give evidence at Lieutenant Colonel Johnston's Court Martial, returning in 1812 per "Mary"; his official duties in the District of Parramatta included Chief Constable (to 1820), Inspector of Slaughtering Houses (1812), Clerk of the Public Market (1812), auctioneer (1814) and Superintendent of the Female Factory (1814-22).
