An architect from Bristol, Greenway began private practice in Sydney immediately upon arrival and soon was given a ticket of leave. Macquarie appointed him Civil Architect in 1816 and he designed, among other buildings, the lighthouse at South Head, the Female Factory at Parramatta, the Convict Barracks in Sydney, churches at Windsor and Liverpool, and the Courthouse at Windsor. He was dismissed in 1822 after submitting a ridiculously large bill for fees. | |
