HACKING, Henry. Seaman; Pilot of Port Jackson and Hobart

Arrived as quartermaster of the "Sirius" in 1788 but went back to England following the wreck of that ship in 1790; he returned to the Colony in 1792 per "Royal Admiral"; he was appointed the first pilot of Port Jackson in 1803 but later that year was transported to Van Diemen's Land for stealing Naval stores; in Jun 1804 he was appointed coxswain to the Lieutenant Governor and in Jul 1806 pilot at Hobart; in 1816 he was granted a pension.
