HAYES, Henry Browne (Sir). Per "Atlas", Jul 1802; of Vaucluse House

Knighted in 1790, Hayes was transported per "Atlas" in 1802 for the crime of kidnapping; he was exiled to Norfolk Island and Van Diemen's Land following acts of defiance towards Governor King, and in 1808 and 1809 was sent to Newcastle for expressing support for the deposed Bligh; he was pardoned by Macquarie and departed the Colony in December 1812.
