Came free per "Scarborough" on 28 June 1790 as Lieutenant in New South Wales Corps; appointed Regimental Paymaster, 1792, and Inspector of Public Works, 1793 - February 1796; granted "Elizabeth Farm" at Parramatta, 1793; promoted to Captain, 6 May 1795; sent to England for court martial following duel on 14 September 1801; absent November 1801 to 8 June 1805; resigned from army; granted 5,000 acres at "Camden Park" in the Cowpastures to develop wool industry in colony; instigator of the Rum Rebellion, 1808; Secretary to the Colony, 12 February to 29 July 1808; sailed to England on "Admiral Gambier" on 29 March 1809 to support Major George Johnston in presenting his defence; given permission to return to the colony he arrived back on the "Lord Eldon" in September 1817; continued to develop pastoral interests; appointed to Legislative Council, July 1825; died 11 April 1834. | |
