ROBINSON, Michael alias Michael Massey. Per "Barwell", 1798; public servant and poet

Shortly after his arrival appointed secretary to Richard Dore, the Deputy Judge Advocate; in November 1800 appointed officer for the registration of agreements; convicted of perjury in September 1802 but the sentence of transportation to Norfolk Island was held in abeyance; sent to Norfolk Island in August 1805, returning to Sydney in December 1806; appointed Chief Clerk in the Secretary's Office in April 1810, Deputy Provost Marshal in 1819, and Principal Clerk in the Police Office in 1821, holding the latter post to his death on 22 December 1826; granted cows from the Government Herds for his services as poet laureate; shareholder in the Bank of New South Wales.
