Son of D'Arcy Wentworth; came free per "Surprize" 1790, with his mother Catherine Crawley, a convict; went to England in 1803 to be educated, returning to New South Wales in 1810; appointed Acting Provost Marshal in October 1811; with William Lawson and Gregory Blaxland crossed the Blue Mountains in 1813; went back to England in 1816 returning to Sydney in 1824.
