DAVEY, Thomas (Lieutenant Colonel). Lieutenant Governor, Van Diemen's Land
First arrived in Jan 1788 with the marines guarding the convicts and remained until 1792; returned to Sydney on 25 Oct 1812; left for Hobart Town in February 1813; Lieutenant Governor of Van Diemen's Land, 4 Feb 1813 to 9 Apr 1817; granted 3,000 acres on Coal River in 1813 and a further 8,000 on his resignation; sailed for England in 1821; died in London on 2 May 1823.
