GRIMES, Charles. Came free per "Gorgon", 1791

Appointed Deputy Surveyor General of roads, Norfolk Island in 1790 and was appointed head constable there in 1792. He returned to Sydney 1794, became a magistrate and superintendent of public concerns at Parramatta the following year. He became Surveyor General 1801; discovered the Yarra River 1803; returned to England 1804-6; joined the rebels in 1808 and was forced to resign 1811.
