Following his appointment as Second Assistant Surgeon he went with Collins's expedition to Port Phillip in 1803; moved to Hobart in 1804; he was suspended in 1807 but was reinstated and continued as Assistant Surgeon until September 1808 when he went to Sydney due to ill health; he returned to Hobart in 1810 and in October 1814 was appointed Principal Surgeon; he died in August 1815.
